Ukrzaliznytsia increased export shipments in 2024 by 51%

According to the results of 2024, Ukrzaliznytsia significantly increased the volume of freight transportation - by 17.9%, or 26.5 million tons more compared to 2023 - to 174.9 million tons. Recall that the decline in freight transportation in 2022-2023 was 1.5% y/y and 52.1% y/y, respectively.The main driver of the growth of railway freight transportation in 2024 is the increase in export volume due to the opening of the sea corridor in August last year. Thanks to this, the share of exports in the total volume of freight transportation increased to 48% (in 2023 - 38%). The volume of export transportation of Ukrzaliznytsia last year increased by 51.2% y/y, or 28.7 million tons - to 84.7 million tons. At the same time, domestic transportation in 2024 decreased by 5.5% y/y to 80.2 million tons, while import cargo transportation increased by 40.9% y/y to 9.6 million tons.
