Ukrainian aquaculture is demonstrating dynamic development. Last year, aquaculture production increased by almost 22% to 18,621 tons. Five regions of Ukraine became the main fish producers.
The following regions became the leaders in fish production:
- Cherkasy (4,400 tons);
- Lviv (1,543 tons);
- Khmelnytskyi (1,517 tons);
- Kirovohrad (1,456 tons);
- Sumy (1,403 tons).
Among the fish species in 2024, the most grown was carp — 8,896 tons, and the least was sturgeon — 72 tons. In addition, the following were popular with producers: silver carp — 4,434 tons, grass carp — 637 tons, pike perch — 1,854 tons, salmon — 396 tons, catfish — 273 tons, pike — 211 tons. The production of edible caviar amounted to 4.3 tons.
