Ukraine is the world leader in vegetable consumption per capita

The countries with the highest per capita vegetable consumption in 2024 were Ukraine (653 kg per person), China (486 kg per person) and Turkey (353 kg per person).This is stated in the IndexBox study.

 At the same time, it is noted that China is the country with the largest volume of vegetable consumption - 693 million tons and 46% of total world consumption. India is second (195 million tons), and the USA is third (52 million tons).

The products with the largest volume of consumption in 2024 were potatoes (380 million tons), fresh vegetables and others (296 million tons) and tomatoes (189 million tons) with a combined share of 57% of world consumption. In terms of value, the largest types of vegetables by market size were fresh vegetables ($331.3 billion), tomatoes ($184.9 billion) and potatoes ($139.6 billion) with a total share of 48% of the global market.Experts predict that the global vegetable market will grow by 2.1% by 2030 and will amount to 1722 million tons, the market value will increase to $1758 billion (+4.2%).
