Ukraine needs $40 billion to implement the National Energy and Climate Plan, only a quarter of it has been financed.To achieve the goals set in the National Energy and Climate Plan (NECP) until 2030, Ukraine needs about $40 billion. This was reported by Deputy Minister of Economy of Ukraine Andriy Telyupa, the DIXI Group analytical center reports. According to the official, only the sources of financing for approximately 25% of this amount are currently known. This primarily concerns the Ukraine Facility program (Component II) - €9.3 billion in grants and loans, as well as bilateral agreements, programs of international financial organizations and individual government initiatives. However, the Ministry of Economy has not yet provided specific details regarding the remaining potential financing.
The main objectives of the National Plan:
Reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 65% by 2030 (from 1990 levels);
Climate neutrality of the energy sector by 2050, of the economy by 2060;
Decommissioning of coal-fired generation by 2035
;Reducing methane emissions by 30% by 2030 (from 2020 levels);
Increasing the share of renewables in total energy consumption to 27% in 2030 (9% in 2020);
Share of renewables in the energy mix: 35% in the heating sector, 25.4% in energy consumption, 14% in transport;
Share of renewables in total electricity production - 25% by 2030;
Alternative energy in heat production: 30% in 2025, 40% in 2035;50% of energy in transport — from alternative sources by 2030.
Experts emphasize: successful implementation of the National Plan is impossible without proper financing, so the government needs to intensify work on attracting funds.
