The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development plans to provide guarantees to cover part of the credit risks of PrivatBank, Ukrgasbank and Raiffeisen Bank. The decision on the relevant projects will be considered in June.The program is expected to help boost lending to businesses and households in times of war. The guarantees cover up to 30% of risks for state-owned banks and up to 50% for Raiffeisen Bank.
The support is structured in three areas: financing working capital and investments in priority sectors, strengthening energy security, and promoting small and medium-sized businesses through the EU4Business-EBRD line.In March, the EBRD also announced plans to support ProCredit Bank under a similar mechanism for €70 million.
