The global steel market in 2024 maintained a trend of stabilization: global production reached 1.884 billion tons, which is slightly less than the figure in 2023 (1.904 billion tons). The focus was on leading companies that set the pace in the industry and influence pricing policy, innovation and environmental standards, according to the annual report World Steel in Figures of the World Steel Association WorldSteel.The absolute leader was again the Chinese corporation China Baowu Group, which produced 130.09 million tons of steel in 2024.
This is almost twice as much as its closest competitor, ArcelorMittal, whose production volume was 65 million tons.China's Ansteel Group took third place (59.55 million tons), followed by Japan's Nippon Steel Corporation with 43.64 million tons, which remains the largest producer outside China.
