The global iron ore market was teetering on the edge last week between sluggish statistics and hopes for a seasonal recovery. Despite the overall pressure from weak demand in China, some market signals indicated an increase in activity on the background of reduced inventories and a revival of imports.Prices remained under pressure in the first half of the week. Chinese steelmakers cautiously concluded new deals, while the real estate market continued to put pressure on the outlook for steel consumption. Investment in the sector fell by more than 10%, and the area of new projects by almost 23%, depriving the market of its traditional demand driver.
