The Ukrainian corn market is experiencing an interseasonal decline in activity - liquidity remains low, and demand is limited to only isolated transactions. Analysts note that due to the reduction in production and active exports of the last season, transitional stocks of corn at the beginning of the new marketing year may be minimal or absent altogether.Currently, corn of the new harvest is offered in the range of $200-203 per ton on DAP (Odesa) terms with delivery in October-November. Trade is slow - sellers are in no hurry with deals, counting on further price growth. Buyers, on the contrary, are trying to fix lower prices, offering $225-228 per ton for the 2024 harvest. The situation on the European market is somewhat different: in Germany, corn is traded at €197-204 per ton DAP, in the Netherlands — €192-197 per ton.
Ukrainian corn on FCA (border) terms is estimated at €183-185 per ton, which makes it competitive on the European market.Recall that last season, Ukraine exported record volumes of corn, which significantly reduced carryover stocks. According to experts, this factor may become key in shaping the pricing policy in the new season, especially if weather conditions do not contribute to the formation of a high harvest.
