Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiga announced the opening of four new embassies of Ukraine by the end of 2025. Speaking at the annual meeting of heads of foreign diplomatic institutions under the slogan “From the power of diplomacy to the diplomacy of power,” the minister announced that new diplomatic missions will appear in the Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Panama, and Uruguay.At the same time, Ukraine’s diplomatic presence in Cuba will be reduced. According to Sybiga, the freed resources will be directed to strengthening Ukraine’s positions in other countries in the region.The MFA also plans to open more than 10 new consular institutions.
In particular, new consulates will appear in Romania, Iraq, Italy, Germany, Slovakia, as well as two each in France and Poland. Consulates in Antalya (Turkey) and Gdansk (Poland) will be upgraded to the level of general.“We are looking into the future and already see the global role of Ukraine, including in the post-war period. Because this meeting is about the future and our geopolitical role,” the minister emphasized.Within the framework of the new strategic approach, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for the first time initiated and prepared the Strategy of Ukraine for the Arctic, Antarctic and the World Ocean. The document should lay the foundation for Ukraine’s long-term participation in global processes.
