Ukraine has been consistently among the top 5 suppliers of organic products in the EU for many years. Dengi.ua writes about this with reference to the Deputy Minister of Economy, Environment and Agriculture Taras Vysotsky.Currently, there are 260 certified operators in Ukraine that meet the requirements of national organic legislation, and 436 - EU and/or US legislation."Despite all the challenges of today, participants in the organic sector continue to work unwaveringly, and this is yielding results. For example, today there are already two certification bodies in Ukraine, which confirms the growth of demand and interest of producers. About 350 thousand hectares of agricultural land have organic status. This is approximately 1.2% of the total amount of agricultural land in Ukraine. Our goals are ambitious - first to reach an indicator of 5%, and then 25%, as planned in the EU countries," - said Vysotsky at the annual conference "Organic Day in Ukraine". The Deputy Minister added that active work is currently underway to bring Ukraine's organic legislation into line with the new European Union regulations. Draft Law No. 13204-1 is being prepared for the second reading and has every chance of being adopted this fall.
