18,605 new FOPs in the field of computer programming appeared this year - over the year the number of newcomers in the field has almost not changed. Instead, existing businesses are closing more and more actively: 26,158 IT-entrepreneurs have completed their activities.Overall, losses in the industry have tripled over the year: - 7,553 FOPs in just ten months of this year. As Opendatabot writes, the closure of FOPs does not necessarily indicate a crisis in the industry - rather, it indicates how the employment format of IT professionals is changing.The largest number of new IT-FOPs has traditionally been registered in Kyiv (3,737), Lviv (2015), Dnipropetrovsk (1,740), Kharkiv (1,557) and Kyiv regions (1,338). At the same time, the positive balance — when more were opened than closed — was preserved only in two regions: Volyn (+19 FOPs) and Ternopil (+12).Among new IT entrepreneurs, men predominate — 57% of registrations, while women make up 43%. In no region does the number of female FOPs exceed that of men — this is currently an atypical situation for Ukrainian business, which is often opened by women.The median life of an FOP in the IT sector that closed in 2025 is 4 years. Every sixth IT FOP ceases its activity within the first year, another third works from one to four years. The oldest entrepreneur who closed this year worked since 1991.Let us remind you that over 153 thousand new FOPs were opened by women in 10 months of 2025 in Ukraine, according to the Unified State Register. This is 61% of the total number of newly created individual entrepreneurs in 2025.
