Peanuts in the North of Ukraine: First Results of Experimental Sowing

In 2025, about 35 hectares of agricultural land were used for peanut cultivation in the Kharkiv region. In addition, the crop was sown for the first time in the Chernihiv region - on a 5-hectare plot to assess its prospects in other soil and climatic conditions. This is reported by SEEDS, Dengi.ua reports.

According to the results of the season, the average peanut yield was about 1 ton per hectare. During the growing season, the crop required increased attention, strict adherence to agrotechnical techniques and constant monitoring. After harvesting, the crop was additionally dried in a special dryer, which made it possible to ensure high product quality.

“This season required adapting the technology to our conditions. Some operations had to be performed manually, because there is almost no specialized equipment for growing peanuts in Ukraine. At the same time, we saw that the crop is able to adapt to the climate of the Kharkiv region. The results obtained clearly show what to pay attention to next year. For us, this is not just an experiment, but a practical study of the possibility of industrial peanut cultivation,” said Gennady Maly, the chief agronomist of the AGROTRADE Group.

The data collected this year are planned to be used to further improve the cultivation technology and make decisions on the possible expansion of peanut sowing areas in the following seasons.Dengi.ua previously reported that the quality of Ukrainian potatoes may deteriorate after the New Year. The publication also wrote that in November 2025, Ukraine exported 5 million tons of agro-industrial complex products.
