The ferry connection between Ukraine and the South Caucasus is gradually being restored, which will improve the capacity of the Trans-Caspian international transport route. This was reported by the Ambassador of Ukraine to Azerbaijan Yuriy Gusev in an interview with Ukrinform. “This year, with the support and leadership of Ukrzaliznytsia, the first (since the full-scale invasion – ed.) ferry flights from Ukraine to the South Caucasus took place,” the diplomat said. He emphasized that such an increase in logistics significantly improves the ability to deliver Ukrainian cargo to Azerbaijan and Azerbaijani cargo to Ukraine. “This is an important element of expanding the capacity of the Trans-Caspian international transport route, which connects China and the European market and passes through the countries of Central Asia, the South Caucasus and Ukraine, as a bridge to the countries of the European Union,” Gusev emphasized. The ambassador explained that Azerbaijan has a strategic geopolitical location, so the expansion of the Trans-Caspian route is a direction of its strategic partnership with Ukraine.
