In 2026, the Ministry of Development of Communities and Territories of Ukraine plans to complete the modernization of a number of checkpoints and carry out major repairs of individual facilities. The Ministry is also actively working on joint control with neighboring countries, as well as on amendments to agreements with Romania and Hungary to open new checkpoints. This will allow expanding the border infrastructure and optimizing its operation.
So, reconstruction of the following checkpoints is planned for 2026:
Luzhanka - Beregshurani,
Uzhhorod - Vyshne-Niemetske,
Mohyliv-Podilskyi - Otach,
Reni - Giurgiulesti,
Porubne - Siret.
Major repairs are planned for: Chop – Záhony, Maly Berezny – Ublya, Solotvino – Sighetu Marmaţiei. In addition, the launch of a new checkpoint Bila Tserkva – Sighetu Marmaţiei is planned, which will increase the throughput capacity on the western border. Modern service areas will be equipped in front of the checkpoints Yahodyn, Rava-Ruska, Kraków and Reni to increase comfort when crossing the border and the efficiency of servicing vehicles and passengers One of the key innovations will be the launch of the pilot project "eQueues" for passenger cars. The system provides for the automation of queues, reducing waiting times and increasing the throughput capacity of checkpoints.
This year, the passenger checkpoint Velyka Palad – Nagygodosh with Hungary was opened in Ukraine. Repairs of 10 checkpoints were also completed, most of them on the border with Moldova. In addition, the movement of large buses at the Dyakivtsi point with Romania was opened. At the same time, an agreement was signed with Slovakia to expand the possibilities of the Uzhhorod and Maly Berezny points. Also in 2025, the "eQueue" program was expanded in Ukraine. It became available for trucks weighing from 3.5 tons.
