Ukrainian enterprises and government agencies will have the opportunity to produce and store their own electricity.
DTEK and Octopus Energy Group, the UK’s largest energy supplier, are implementing solar power plant and energy storage system projects in Ukraine worth €100 million.
DTEK and Octopus Energy Group are establishing a joint venture to support the financing of the RISE project, which involves the development of solar and battery systems in Ukraine.
"DTEK, Ukraine's largest investor, and Octopus Energy Group, the UK's largest energy supplier, announced on Thursday the creation of a joint venture to support the financing of the RISE project—their €100 million initiative to deploy energy-efficient rooftop solar and battery systems across Ukraine," DTEK said in a statement.
It is noted that this initiative gives Ukrainian enterprises and state organizations the opportunity to produce and store electricity.
The agreement paves the way for DTEK and Octopus Energy to secure long-term financing for the large-scale implementation of the project.
Octopus and DTEK are currently in talks with several financial institutions to finance the project.
"Today marks an important milestone for the RISE project. Strengthening the partnership with Octopus Energy creates a platform to scale our project over the next five years and attract the investments necessary for long-term success," said DTEK CEO Maksym Timchenko.
"Ukraine's energy future depends on systems that are more distributed, flexible, and resilient. While many still view Ukraine as a risk, our partners at Octopus rightly see an opportunity to build a stronger energy system—something that can be achieved through innovation and partnership," emphasized Maksym Timchenko.
In the first quarter of 2026, 824 consumers in the capital, Dnipropetrovsk, Odessa and Kyiv regionsconnected their household solar power plants to DTEK's power grids.
