In Ukraine, the restoration of civil air transportation may take only a few months after the necessary security conditions are created. The Verkhovna Rada states that the state is already supporting airports and their personnel so that they can quickly return to work.
When can flights be resumed in Ukraine?
To open the sky and resume flights in Ukraine, several conditions must first be met. This was reported by the deputy chairman of the parliamentary committee on transport and infrastructure, Volodymyr Kreidenko, writes Noviny.LIVE.
"If the team will prepare security conditions and work out a way to ensure the security of these airports, then I think that within 3-5 months we can do it, launch civil aviation, and people will be able to use our domestic airlines when traveling abroad," - says the MP.
At the same time, Kreidenko refused to comment on the technical condition of Ukrainian airports, noting that such information can be used by the enemy.
Ukraine is already preparing to resume air traffic.
"Despite the fact that the Ukrainian sky remains closed to civil aviation at the moment, the government has already begun preparations for the future resumption of flights", - said Deputy Prime Minister for Reconstruction - Minister of Community and Territorial Development Oleksiy Kuleba.
According to him, the Cabinet of Ministers approved the Strategy for the Development of Civil Aviation of Ukraine until 2030, and also created an Interdepartmental Coordination Center, which will deal with preparations for the launch of air services.
According to the minister, now there is no question of a quick opening of airspace, because due to constant Russian attacks this is not yet possible.
"We all understand the reality in which the country lives today. Russia continues massive attacks, and the security situation does not allow for the resumption of civil aviation flights. That is why now there is no question of opening airspace. This is about responsible planning for the future. The strategy is part of this planning",- Kuleba explained.
For example, the strategy should become the basis for the restoration of the aviation industry after the war and the adaptation of the Ukrainian transport system to EU requirements. Among the main areas:
- modernization of airports and air navigation infrastructure;
- integration of Ukraine into the single European aviation space;
- development of multimodal transport connections;
- implementation of modern aviation safety standards in accordance with the requirements of the EU and the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO).
How does air transportation work in other countries in times of war?
Airlines in the UAE continue to operate flights, although massive drone and missile attacks are taking place. It is currently known that such UAE companies as Emirates, Etihad, Flydubai and Air Arabia operate the majority of flights.
The authorities of the countries resort to minimizing risks, such as creating special air corridors, or escorting military aircraft by civilian aircraft.
By the way, in Israel, back in the 1960s and 1970s, a special mechanism was developed at the state level that allowed for so-called reinsurance. This means that the country assumed some of the risks, which allowed it to launch certain air transportation services even taking into account the existing risks.
