In the first half of 2026, 414.8 MW of wind power plants were commissioned. The total installed capacity of wind power plants today is 1.115 GW. At the same time, according to NEC Ukrenergo, the total capacity of solar power plants in Ukraine currently reaches 7.3 GW.
Since 2024, technical conditions have been received for connecting almost 7 GW of new generation to the power grid, of which 1.5 GW have been implemented, according to Ruslan Slobodyan, a member of the National Commission for State Regulation in the Spheres of Energy and Utilities (NKREKP).
"As of now, technical conditions for connecting 3.2 GW of capacity have been received under the simplified procedure. Of these, almost 1 GW has already been implemented - 0.97 GW. These are specific facilities that are already operating or are in the final stage of launch. In addition, technical conditions for connecting 3.6 GW have been issued under the usual procedure, of which over 630 MW have already been implemented," Slobodyan said during the NEURC report at a meeting of the Verkhovna Rada's energy committee on Wednesday.
In the presentation presented by the NEURC at the committee, as of June 10, these indicators were as follows: technical conditions were received under the simplified procedure for 3 GW, of which 0.88 GW were implemented, technical conditions were received under the usual procedure for 3.5 GW, 0.63 GW were implemented.
Responding to the question of the head of the committee Andriy Gerus about the distribution system operators that have the best indicators in connection to the networks, the head of the NEURC Yuriy Vlasenko noted that it all depends on how many connections there were, how they were implemented and in what conditions a particular distribution system operator (DSO) is. At the same time, he indicated that previously the best indicators were in DTEK Kyiv Regional Electric Grids and Lvivoblenergo. In general, as Vlasenko emphasized, there were fewer complaints about connections from customers.
"After the commission strengthened its work in terms of connections by improving the regulatory framework and very targeted work with their customers, the situation with them and appeals regarding problems with connections has significantly improved," said the head of the energy regulator.
Slobodyan, for his part, emphasized during his speech that simplifying access to infrastructure and connection to networks is a significant mechanism for stimulating generation.
He drew attention to the fact that the simplified procedure for connecting generating units to electricity networks has been extended, as a result of which new customers can apply for this until May 1, 2027, with the completion of services by October 1, 2027. Simplified requirements for commercial accounting have also been retained, the NEURC member clarified.
As he noted, the regulator has introduced a phased connection mechanism, which allows launching facilities and supplying electricity to the network within the existing capacity reserve of external electricity networks without their reconstruction.
Slobodyan also clarified that the average time for completing a standard connection is 66 days, and for a non-standard connection - 156 days.
In addition, he emphasized that the NEURC has introduced digital monitoring of the status of the provision of connection services for operational control over DSO compliance with the connection terms and to identify and prevent possible violations and manipulations on their part.
The member of the energy regulator also emphasized that since January 2026, the NEURC has introduced a system of regular coordination meetings on connection issues with its customers, DSOs and other participants in the process - they take place every Thursday at 11:00. According to him, all interested customers of connection can sign up for such meetings via the regulator's website.
He added that thanks to the systematic work carried out, as of July 2026, the issue of 79 power plants with a total capacity of almost 323 MW has been regulated.
As reported with reference to the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine, as of July 21, 2026, approximately 1.8 GW of distributed gas generation has been installed in Ukraine, in particular, as part of the implementation of regional resilience plans, 388.8 MW have been put into operation since March 2026. In addition, construction work is ongoing on 247 installations with a total capacity of 532.2 MW.
