As of March 13, 2025, farmers in 15 regions of Ukraine have sown 83 thousand hectares of spring grain and leguminous crops. Spring sowing is rapidly gaining momentum: if on March 6, agricultural producers worked only in two southern regions (Mykolaiv and Odessa), then within a week 13 more regions of the country joined them.Currently, the largest area of crops is barley - 45.2 thousand hectares. Sowing of spring wheat (12.9 thousand hectares), peas (17.8 thousand hectares) and oats (7.2 thousand hectares) has also begun.Leading regions in terms of sowing rates:Ternopil region: 15.2 thousand hectares ha (wheat - 1.8 thousand ha, barley - 12.5 thousand ha, peas - 0.9 thousand ha).
Volyn region: 11 thousand ha (wheat - 5.5 thousand ha, barley - 3 thousand ha, oats - 2.5 thousand ha).
Rivne region: 10.84 thousand ha (wheat - 0.35 thousand ha, barley - 7.1 thousand ha, peas - 0.45, thousand ha, oats - 2.92 thousand ha).
Vinnytsia region: 10.1 thousand ha (wheat - 2.9 thousand ha, barley - 3.6 thousand ha, peas - 3.1 thousand ha, oats - 0.5 thousand ha).
Mykolaiv region: 10 thousand hectares (barley - 4.5 thousand hectares, peas - 5.5 thousand hectares). In total, it is planned to sow more than 5.7 million hectares of spring grain and leguminous crops in 2025, which corresponds to the level of 2024. The main feature of the new season will be the projected increase in the area under spring wheat by 28%, to 222.8 thousand hectares. Such changes in the crop structure correspond to the stable demand for wheat from processing enterprises and exporters.
