Exports of scrap metal were carried out mainly to Poland (93.24% of deliveries in monetary terms), Bulgaria (4.32%) and Germany (2.20%).
In the first two months of 2025, Ukraine imported 3 tons of scrap metal for $1 thousand from the British Virgin Islands. In 2024, exports of ferrous scrap increased by 60.7%, reaching 293,190 thousand tons. Most of the scrap metal was sent to Poland (81.80%), Greece (13.75%) and Germany (3.19%). Ukraine also imported scrap metal, mainly from the British Virgin Islands and Turkey.President of Ukrmetalurgprom Oleksandr Kalenkov reported that Ukrzaliznytsia has accumulated over 200 thousand tons of scrap metal, which creates a deficit in the market.
