Lviv farmers prepare to export sea buckthorn to Europe

The Romalin farm, located in the village of Rykhtychi, Drohobych district, Lviv region, will enter the European market for the first time with its own products - sea buckthorn. After several years of active development and research, the farm plans to supply berries to Germany and Poland.Currently, 30 hectares of sea buckthorn plantations are under "Romalin". 11 varieties are grown, including Latvian ones - "Maria Bruvele", "Eva", "Tetiana", as well as the Ukrainian variety "Leikora". The plans are to officially register their own varieties, bred from wild forms that farmers adapted to local conditions.Access to the foreign market became possible after negotiations with European partners. Processing companies from Germany and Poland are already interested in Ukrainian sea buckthorn - primarily due to its high taste, ecological purity and stable quality.Previously, Romalin products were sold exclusively in Ukraine. Now farmers expect that European exports will not only expand their sales markets, but also become an example for other farms that plan to develop berry growing and processing in the western regions of Ukraine.Experts believe that with proper support from the state and investors, sea buckthorn has every chance of becoming another successful Ukrainian export product in the niche berry segment.
