Ukraine has a chance to become a leader in frozen raspberry exports

Ukraine has every chance of becoming a leader in the global frozen raspberry market due to a sharp reduction in production in the traditional leader, Serbia. This is reported by analysts, who note that adverse weather conditions in the spring of 2025, diseases and aging of raspberry plantations have significantly affected the Serbian market. As a result, a shortage of berry products is expected, which may cause a significant increase in prices.  According to Andriy Yarmak, an economist at the FAO Investment Department, special attention should be paid to the distribution of varieties. If Serbia focuses on the production of summer raspberry varieties, which occupy about 70% of the volume, and Poland - 40-50%, then these varieties have suffered the most damage. This may lead to consistently high prices for frozen raspberries in Europe throughout the summer.At the same time, the situation in Ukraine looks much more positive. According to Yarmak, autumn raspberry varieties that have not suffered from weather vagaries prevail in the country. Thanks to this, autumn raspberry production will remain at a stable level, which creates the prerequisites for expanding exports in the frozen products segment.
