NEURC has maintained the current price caps on the electricity market for another six months

The National Commission for State Regulation of Energy and Utilities (NEURC) has left the price caps on the electricity market at the current level for another six months.The relevant resolution was adopted at the regulator's meeting on Tuesday, which was broadcast online."We are continuing the price caps that were established before, but for the next period, for six months," commented NEURC Chairman Yuriy Vlasenko.At the same time, he proposed that the Energy Market Department begin the procedure for reviewing price caps in the near future "in order to promptly respond to the situation in the country, including those related to the war." As reported, according to Resolution No. 1976 of November 25, 2024, the maximum price caps established by the National Commission for the Energy and Power Sector of Ukraine on the day-ahead market (DAM) and the intraday market (IDM) are from 00:00 to 7:00 and from 11:00 to 17:00 - 5.6 thousand UAH/MWh, from 7:00 to 11:00 and from 23:00 to 24:00 - 6.9 thousand UAH/MWh, from 17:00 to 23:00 - 9 thousand UAH/MWh. The minimum price cap is 10 UAH/MWh.The maximum price caps on the balancing market are from 00:00 to 7:00 - 6.6 thousand UAH/MWh, from 7:00 to 17:00 and from 23:00 to 24:00 - UAH 8.25 thousand/MWh, from 17:00 to 23:00 - UAH 10 thousand/MWh.

 

Minimum limit price - UAH 0.01/MWh.Member of the Supervisory Board of NPC "Ukrenergo" Yuriy Boyko at a meeting of the Verkhovna Rada Energy Committee in March stated that for the summer, price caps should be reviewed and corridors should be expanded with the admission of negative prices during hours of maximum surplus and a significant increase in price caps in the evening hours in order to form the correct price signals for the period when the market is acutely unbalanced.
