Ukraine to export up to 400,000 tons of peas in 2025/26 marketing year — prices at the start of the season are already at their maximum

In the 2025/26 marketing year (MY), Ukraine may export about 400,000 tons of peas — the volumes will remain at the level of the previous season. This is evidenced by data from agricultural market analysts.Purchase prices for Ukrainian peas at the start of the season increased to $275–280/t (13,500–14,000 UAH/t) with delivery to Black Sea ports. This corresponds to the maximum levels recorded at the end of the last season.

Meanwhile, the global market is undergoing changes. China, one of the largest importers of legumes in the world, has significantly increased purchases of products from the Russian Federation after the introduction of a 100% duty on Canadian peas on March 7, 2025. In just five months of 2025, China imported 333,000 tons of peas from the Russian Federation and 319,000 tons from Canada. According to USDA estimates, total pea imports to China in the 2024/25 MY could reach 1.5 million tons.In 2024, the Russian Federation harvested about 4 million tons of peas, of which it exported almost half — 2 million tons. The main buyers were China and India. Canada exported 1.76 million tons during the same period and plans to increase the volume to 2 million tons.
