Ukraine is again among the 21 largest steel producers in the world

World steel production in January-June 2025 amounted to 934.3 million tons, which is 2.2% lower than in January-June 2024 (955.4 million tons). In June, world steel production also decreased by 5.8%, to 151.4 million tons, writes agronews.ua.Read us also on Viber and Telegram.In the first half of the year, almost all regions of the world demonstrated a decrease in smelting volumes, except for African countries, where during this time production increased by 4.1% year-on-year, to 11.4 million tons. Countries in Asia and Oceania reduced steel smelting by 1.9% year-on-year, to 693.9 million tons. In the European Union (27), production fell by 3.3%, to 65.4 million tons. In other European countries – by 7.1%, to 20.8 million tons. Russia, CIS countries and Ukraine reduced steel production by 5.4%, to 41.6 million tons.In the Middle East, production decreased by 5.4%, to 27.5 million tons. North American countries reduced production by 0.6%, to 53.2 million tons. And in South America, the drop was 0.4%, to 20.5 million tons. The leader among countries is China, where 514.8 million tons of steel were produced in six months (-3% year-on-year). Ukraine rose from 22nd to 21st place among 71 steel-producing countries, with a result of 3.68 million tons (-4.9% year-on-year), the Ukrmetallurgprom association added.
