In January-July 2025, steel consumption in Ukraine amounted to 2.3 million tons, which is 13.8% more than in the same period last year. Then the market capacity was at the level of 2.03 million tons. Such data is provided by the Ukrmetallurgprom association of enterprises.
In the 7 months since the beginning of the year, 1.44 million tons of Ukrainian-made rolled steel entered the domestic market, which is 63.5% of the total consumption. The share of imported products during this period amounted to 37.5%, or 0.86 million tons. Compared to last year, it increased by 2.5%.As noted, the structure of imports in January-July is characterized by a significant dominance of flat rolled steel over long steel (74.75% and 20.20%, respectively).Among metallurgical importers, the first place is occupied by other European countries (55.4%), the second is the EU-27 (23.7%), and the third is the countries of Asia (17.8%).Let us recall that according to the results of the first half of 2025, the capacity of the Ukrainian metal rolling market increased by more than 11%.
