This was announced by the Deputy Prime Minister for Reconstruction of Ukraine, Minister of Community and Territorial Development Oleksiy Kuleba. The length of the future Eurotrack will be about 80 kilometers. According to the plan, construction should be completed by the end of 2027. For the implementation of this large-scale infrastructure project, Ukraine received the first grant of 73.5 million euros from the European Commission. The Eurotrack will be built from the border with Poland to Sknylov near Lviv. The length of the track is about 80 km, and construction is planned to be completed by the end of 2027.
The difference between Ukrainian and European railway gauges
As is known, in most countries of the European Union the standard width of the railway track is 1435 mm, while in Ukraine a wider gauge is used – 1520 mm. The introduction of the Eurogauge will contribute to the integration of the Ukrainian railway infrastructure with European transport networks and will provide more convenient connections for passengers and cargo in the future.
