On December 8, the Minister of Economy, Environment and Agriculture of Ukraine Oleksiy Sobolev held a meeting with the Ambassador of the Czech Republic to Ukraine Lubos Veselý, who has been in office since the fall of this year. This was reported by the press service of the ministry.During the meeting, the parties focused on the possibilities of attracting Czech investments to the Ukrainian economy. They discussed financial instruments that may become available within the framework of intergovernmental cooperation and stimulate the participation of Czech companies in the recovery of Ukraine. It is noted that Czech enterprises are already actively working in the Ukrainian energy sector and are interested in new projects - from nuclear energy to gas and oil production. Among the promising areas of cooperation is privatization, including partial.
“The Czech Republic has successful experience in managing energy assets, where the state remains the owner, but attracts private capital. Czech partners are ready to provide Ukraine with technical expertise. Next year, we expect a visit from a Czech government delegation and hope for further deepening of our practical cooperation,” Sobolev noted.Representatives of large Czech businesses will also visit Ukraine in the near future — in particular, their visit to the Dnipropetrovsk region, which the Czech Republic supports within the framework of international partnership, is planned.Separately, the parties considered the possibility of launching a mechanism for direct financing of reconstruction projects through the Czech Development Bank (NRB). The creation of an instrument similar to the one already operating between Ukraine and the Polish BGK is being discussed.Industrial cooperation was also an important topic. The Czech Republic has strong positions in hydropower and mechanical engineering and is ready to supply equipment for the repair of Ukrainian hydroelectric and thermal power plants. In this context, the format of the “Industrial Ramstein” was discussed — a model of cooperation that involves not only the supply of equipment, but also the creation of joint production chains. The next step will be the participation of the Ukrainian delegation in the MSV industrial exhibition in Brno, where new industrial contracts may be signed.
