According to the results of 2024, Ukrainian metallurgical enterprises produced 7.58 million tons of steel, which is 21.6% higher than in 2023. This reflects a significant recovery of the industry after challenging periods. The data was released by the association OP "Ukrmetallurgprom," as reported by Ukrinform.
Specifically, according to the association, 7.58 million tons of steel were produced in 2024 compared to 6.23 million tons in 2023. The last month of the year proved to be more favorable for steelmakers: in December, steel production increased by 1.14% compared to November, reaching 547,000 tons. It is worth noting that production figures had shown negative dynamics in the previous months of 2024.
There was also an increase in the production of pig iron, rising from 6.0 million tons in 2023 to 7.0 million tons in 2024, a growth of 18.1%. In December, pig iron production grew by 4.1%, reaching 565,400 tons.
The smallest growth was recorded in the production of rolled products. The annual total for rolled products was 6.22 million tons, up 15.8% from 5.37 million tons in 2023. In December, the production of rolled products increased by 0.8% compared to November, reaching 480,800 tons.
Earlier, "Ukrmetallurgprom" had forecasted that Ukrainian metallurgical enterprises could reach a steel production level of 7.2-7.3 million tons in 2024.
