The turnover through maritime checkpoints in 2024 increased by 28.2% to 97.91 million tons, while the turnover via land decreased by 8.1% to 64.3 million tons, according to the State Customs Service.
Additionally, it was reported that 26.1 million tons of goods were transported through pipelines and 6,237.5 GWh of electricity through power lines across the state border, which is 8.1% less and 2.9 times more, respectively, than in 2023.
According to the State Customs Service, imports increased by 10.3% to 30.1 million tons, while exports grew by 10.9% to 132.1 million tons.
It was also noted that the number of sea vessels passing through the customs border last year increased by 14.1% to 10,400, while river vessels rose by 3% to 34,400. However, the number of trucks decreased by 6.8% to 7,670,200, and the number of railway cars dropped by 8.2% to 1,277,400.
Furthermore, the State Customs Service's report indicated 200 air vessels, compared to 100 in 2023.
The agency clarified that land trade increased only through the border with Poland by 1% to 32.83%, while it decreased by 12% and 12.2% through the Slovak and Romanian borders to 13.36 million tons and 9.26 million tons, respectively. The turnover through the Hungarian and Moldovan borders decreased by 22.1% and 26.5%, respectively, to 4.57 million tons and 4.27 million tons.
As for the number of vehicles passing through the borders, it decreased at all borders last year. The smallest decrease was with Moldova, down by 3.4% to 1.44 million, with Poland by 7.3% to 4.32 million, with Romania by 7.4% to 1.51 million, with Slovakia by 8.7% to 840,000, and with Hungary by 10% to 900,000.
As previously reported by the State Customs Service, in monetary terms, Ukraine's exports in 2024 increased by 18.5% to $41.6 billion, while imports rose by 11.3% to $70.7 billion, according to Interfax-Ukraine.
