Ukrzaliznytsia plans to introduce term contracts for the sale of scrap

JSC Ukrzaliznytsia intends to introduce term contracts for the sale of scrap to increase the interest of buyers and ensure a forecasted flow of funds for the company. This was announced by the head of the “Repair and Production” department of the company, Yevhen Shramko, during a meeting with associations and businesses on September 11, writes Rail.insider with reference to “Interfax-Ukraine”. “Currently, the lots are 300 tons, 400 tons, 1 thousand tons. We will prepare a base within the law to exhibit scrap that will still be processed. It is not physically on the site yet, but we will cut it, process it in order to ship it to the buyer,” Yevhen Shramko emphasized. He added that this will allow buyers to have a forecasted flow of scrap and work on large contracts. During the meeting, it was discussed that during the period from June to August 2025, 77 auctions were successfully held, 28.2 thousand tons of scrap were sold. Currently, 95.5 thousand tons are ready for sale, including 22.6 thousand tons put up for auction.

Additionally, 131 thousand tons are being prepared for sale. A member of the UZ board also reported that the single price for loading services was reduced to UAH 1,143 thousand including VAT. However, now the company is offering scrap at a price that is differentiated depending on the loading point and loading method. At the same time, the price currently does not depend on the type of scrap, but this may change in the future.
