From September 30, 2025, the state program "Affordable Medicines" is expanding in Ukraine, which provides patients with necessary drugs free of charge or with partial payment. This is one of the largest updates in recent years, which should significantly facilitate citizens' access to modern treatment. This was reported by the National Health Service of Ukraine. 705 names, almost a third of which are free The updated list now includes 705 items of medicines and medical devices. Of these, 273 are available to patients free of charge, the rest with a small co-payment.
The list includes: 595 medicines that cover a wide range of diseases; 38 insulin preparations, which are vital for people with diabetes; 30 combination medicines that increase the effectiveness of therapy; 42 types of test strips for measuring glucose levels, which is especially important for disease control.
New groups of patients and diseases The program has become more accessible to an even wider range of Ukrainians. 85 new drugs have been added, which are focused on the treatment of various categories of patients. In particular, these include: pregnant women and women in childbirth, who will now be able to receive a number of necessary medications free of charge; patients with thyroid diseases; people suffering from glaucoma; children with chronic diseases. In addition, the expanded list includes drugs for the treatment of cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases, chronic lower respiratory diseases, diabetes mellitus, mental and behavioral disorders, epilepsy, Parkinson's disease, as well as metabolic and autoimmune diseases. New international non-proprietary names It is important that the updated list includes 9 new medicines by international non-proprietary names (INN). This means that patients will have access to more modern and effective treatments that meet global standards.
