In Lviv region, GORO will build the longest gondola cable car in Ukraine.
It will connect the levels of the resort's mountain infrastructure. The company announced this.
GORO Mountain Resort has signed a contract with the Austrian Doppelmayr Group for the supply and installation of a gondola cable car almost 3 km long. It will become the longest in Ukraine and will provide a connection between the levels of the future mountain resort in the Carpathians.
The company notes that the project is a key element of the resort's first-stage infrastructure. In addition to the gondola, the construction of two chairlifts, each 1.5 km long, is planned.
"The cable car system is one of the key infrastructure facilities that determines the international level of the future all-season mountain resort," the report says.
The 2.8 km long gondola route will connect the lower and upper stations with a height difference of over 500 meters, and the ascent will last approximately 9 minutes. Its capacity will reach 2,800 passengers per hour. The cabins are designed for 10 people, will have panoramic windows and natural ventilation, and the landing level will be made barrier-free for passengers with limited mobility.
"The gondola road will operate not only in winter for ski infrastructure, but also throughout the year: for hiking routes in the mountains, mountain biking, sightseeing climbs and access to panoramic points of the resort," GORO emphasizes.
Construction is being implemented in stages: from the dismantling of the old infrastructure to the installation of equipment and commissioning. The opening of the gondola road is planned in 2027 as part of the first stage of the resort.
The total investment in the GORO cable car system is 47 million euros, of which 20 million euros are directly invested in the gondola cable car.
The construction of this large-scale mountain resort at the foot of the Vysoky Verkh massif (at an altitude of 650 m above sea level, near the villages of Volosyanka and Verkhnya Rozhanka and 5 km from Slavsk) began a year and a half ago. Today, more than 100 projects and subprojects are being implemented simultaneously on the site.
Welcome Center and its own power grid: The frame work is already being completed at the iconic Welcome Center facility, and its final appearance is expected by the end of summer. In addition, by the end of July, they plan to connect their own power grid to direct current, which will ensure the basic operation of all systems.
Comprehensive infrastructure: In parallel, work is underway on a hotel complex that will combine SPA, wellness, children's and adult recreation areas. The team is also actively working on a "seamless service", coordinating work with hotel and mobile operators for maximum comfort of future guests. Preparations are underway to create a snowmaking system and gondola lift, the construction of which will begin in a few months.
"By the end of this year, we plan to open the Welcome Center," says Volodymyr Garazd. "We also want to open the first slope with a snowmaking system, that is, with 100% snow, launch a gondola lift, and also have time to build the first part of the multi-level parking lot by the end of the year, the construction of which will begin in the near future."
This year, they will begin building an artificial lake at the top, and they plan to complete it by the end of 2027. Given this pace, they plan to open the resort in winter in test mode, but without a hotel.
The opening of the first hotel is scheduled for the second half of 2028. By this time, the mountain system for skiing should have been tested, and guests will be able to enjoy their vacation.
Last year, the resort already prepared the first ski slope. In the near future, they will begin laying underground engineering networks for snowmaking systems, after which they will begin building electrical networks, and only then will the slopes be finally formed.
The GORO Mountain Resort artificial snowmaking system is a fully automated infrastructure complex designed specifically for this resort. In May 2026, a contract for its creation was signed with the world leader in the industry, the international company DEMACLENKO from Italy.
What does the GORO Mountain Resort snowmaking system look like? In fact, it is hidden in the body of the mountain massif and is invisible to the human eye.
"This is an underground water supply network, the same as in any city. We will take water into the water supply from the lake, which we will start building on the top of Vysokoye Verkh this year. We will pump water from the river into the lake. We have been conducting research and measurements of the river for three years, received all the environmental reports and permits to carry out this water intake. The lake fills up within 14 days. And when the weather allows us to turn on the snowmaking system, it snows all the slopes within five days. After that, snowmobiles come out and roll the snow so that skiers can ski on the slopes."
Thanks to DEMACLENKO technologies, the snow cover of the Ukrainian resort will meet all the standards of the International Ski Federation (FIS) for holding competitions of the highest level. The company supplies not just equipment, but integrated SnowVisual software, which fully automates the snowmaking process using AI.
"Smart automation will control the snowmaking of all slopes," notes Volodymyr Garazd. "If snow is falling on a slope somewhere, AI suggests where exactly it is necessary to make snow: we can see where the skier is skiing more, where he is more interested. The work of artificial intelligence is based on "reading" customer needs and desires. Innovations will also concern the use of water and electricity consumption during snowmaking. This will be monitored by IT systems."
The system guarantees 100% snowmaking of all GORO's first-stage trails. The first part of the system on 17 hectares will be implemented in 2026, the rest in 2027. The cost of investment exclusively in snowmaking of the first stage is 25 million euros.
The GORO project is not static, it is being improved for the comfort of tourists. It is worth noting that the improvement of the service model takes place even before the resort is launched, so that the future guest receives first-class service without any compromises.
