"Vitagro Energy" will build three new biomethane plants in western Ukraine. The project involves launching enterprises in Khmelnytskyi, Ternopil and Rivne regions, which will allow the company to significantly expand its “green” business.
This is stated in the "Ukraine Investment Catalogue 2026".
The new industrial facilities are planned to be built in the villages of Nagiryanka in Ternopil region, Ripna in Khmelnytskyi region and Zorya in Rivne region. The total capacity of the three enterprises is expected to be 3 million cubic meters of biomethane per year.
In addition to gas generation, the technological cycle provides for the annual production of 66 thousand tons of high-quality liquid and solid organic fertilizers as a by-product, as well as the generation of 0.4 Megawatts of electricity to meet the enterprises' own needs.
The total cost of the investment project is estimated at 35.9 million US dollars. Of this amount, the company is ready to invest more than $17.7 million from its own funds, and the rest — about $23.6 million — plans to attract through equity and project financing instruments.
The basic raw materials for the plants will be livestock waste from the company's own farms, as well as additional sources of biomass, and the key sales market for the produced fuel has been identified as the European Union countries.
To date, the investor has already completed the stage of leasing land plots for future capacities, and the project itself is at the stage of developing a feasibility study.
It is expected that the construction of each individual facility will last about two years. According to the company's preliminary financial calculations, after reaching full capacity, each of the three plants will provide from $3.7 to $5 million in annual revenue and will bring in $1.8–2.5 million in EBITDA per year.
Bioenergy complexes in Ukraine.
During May, the launch of several more similar facilities was announced in Ukraine. In particular, the construction of a biomethane complex in the Ternopil region was planned by the company "Sokoliv Energy" from the structure of the OKKO group.
At the same time, the agro-industrial group "Ukrprominvest-Agro" through its company "UPI-Energy" intends to build a bioenergy complex in the Vinnytsia region, which will produce 13 million m³ of biomethane annually.
As a reminder, the government of Ukraine approved a program for the development of biomethane production until 2035, which provides for an increase in production to 2.1 billion cubic meters per year and increased energy independence.
