In 2025, it reduced its net income by 30.5% compared to 2024 - to 2 billion 617.2 million UAH, and received 184.5 million UAH, while in 2024 the net profit was 81.1 million UAH. 143 freight and 51 passenger cars were sold.

Ukrzaliznytsia has an acute shortage of passenger cars, which became especially noticeable in the summer of 2025, when demand for tickets on key routes exceeded supply several times.

To overcome the deficit, Ukrzaliznytsia plans to purchase 100 cars annually over the next few years.

In May last year, Ukrzaliznytsia received six new reserved-seat cars from the Kryukivskyi Plant - the first newly built in this modification since Ukraine's independence. The renewal of the reserved-seat fleet is part of the state program for the modernization of railway transport. In March, the government allocated UAH 4.4 billion to pay for the current batch of cars and purchase another 300 units. In July, the Kryukivskyi Carriage Building Plant signed a contract with UZ for the supply of 95 passenger cars.

In 2026, Ukrzaliznytsia has already received 21 new passenger cars of Ukrainian production. 166 Ukrainian enterprises were involved in their production. In total, within the framework of the state funding program, UZ has already contracted 358 new passenger cars, of which 187 are already carrying passengers.
