In Ukraine, 19,758 new companies were registered in the first half of 2026 - this is the largest figure in the last three years. Compared to the same period last year, the number of new businesses increased by 8%.
At the same time, 6,563 companies ceased operations or were in the process of termination in the first six months of the year. This is 28% more than in the same period last year. Despite the increase in the number of closures, the overall dynamics remains positive - the net growth of business was 13,195 companies.
Where in Ukraine are companies most actively created.
The largest number of new companies was added in the wholesale trade sector - the increase was 2,304 businesses. In second place was the IT industry with an increase of 1,254 companies, followed by real estate (+1,104), public organizations (+859) and home maintenance (+824).
At the same time, a decrease in the number of companies was recorded in the sphere of public administration and defense - minus 289 businesses, education - minus 282, veterinary medicine - minus 20, water supply - minus 14, as well as in creative and artistic activities - minus 11.
By region, the largest increase was demonstrated by Kyiv, where the number of companies increased by 5,338. Next in terms of indicators are Lviv region with an increase of 1,220 companies and Dnipropetrovsk region - 1,177. In general, positive dynamics were recorded in 23 regions, while a decrease occurred in four regions. The largest decrease was observed in the front-line Donetsk and Luhansk regions.
Among the reasons for the cessation of business activity, the most frequently recorded was the liquidation of companies - 3,479 cases. Another 1,410 terminations are related to reorganization, 651 to bankruptcy proceedings, and 574 companies ceased operations by court decision not related to bankruptcy.
Among the largest companies that have ceased operations or are in the process of termination, the leader in terms of revenue according to financial statements for 2025 is Promofly with revenue of about UAH 3 billion.
