Ukraine’s agricultural processing sector is showing rapid growth. In the first two months of 2026, rapeseed oil exports generated $102 million for Ukraine—up from just $3 million during the same period the previous year.
Consequently, foreign currency earnings from the export of this product increased approximately 34-fold. Rapeseed oil also entered the top ten most lucrative Ukrainian agricultural exports, ranking eighth by shipment value.
This result highlights a significant shift in Ukraine’s agricultural sector: the country is gradually increasing the share of processed goods in its exports. The focus is shifting from merely selling raw materials to producing goods with higher added value.
Overall, in January and February, Ukraine exported 9.95 million tonnes of agricultural products worth $4 billion. While export volumes remained virtually unchanged, foreign currency earnings rose by 9.3% compared to the same period in 2025.
Turkey remains a key market for Ukrainian producers. In 2026, its share of Ukrainian agricultural exports reached 13%, and the total value of shipments to the country more than doubled—rising from $247 million to $507 million.
The growth in rapeseed oil exports demonstrates how agricultural processing can generate additional economic value for Ukraine and boost foreign currency earnings without a proportional increase in physical export volumes.
