Over the past five years, Ukraine's largest steel companies have paid UAH 190 billion ($6.2 billion) in taxes and fees. In 2024, the contribution of four steel companies amounted to 1.6% of all budget revenues, with Metinvest providing 61% of this amount. According to the results of 2024, tax payments by steelmakers increased by 36%, reaching UAH 32.4 billion. Despite difficult conditions, in 2024 Ukraine was able to regain five positions in the world ranking of steel producers, rising to 20th place among 71 countries. Over the eight months of last year, steel production increased by 30.7%, to 5.27 million tons. There was also an increase in iron ore exports - 27.9 million tons (+96% y/y) by $2.3 billion, and exports of semi-finished products and rolled metal reached $2.7 billion (+18.2% y/y).
