Payments in stores and service establishments remain the most popular - more than half of the total amount of cashless payments (50.7%) and three quarters of their number (74.4%). Almost a third of the turnover is accounted for by card-to-card transfers, although in terms of volume they account for only 7.3% of all transactions. Online payments for goods and services form 16.1% of the total payments. The average amount of a purchase in a retail network is UAH 345, transfers between cards are UAH 1,847, and online purchases are UAH 598.The market infrastructure is also actively developing: the number of POS terminals increased by 10.5% to 548.7 thousand, and the number of retail establishments accepting cards has increased to 592.5 thousand (+14.3%). At the same time, there are slightly fewer ATMs - 15.6 thousand, which indicates a decrease in demand for cash.
Technological solutions are gaining popularity: almost 60% of active cards are contactless, and tokenized cards for smartphones and gadgets have increased to 18.6 million (+13%). Every third active card in Ukraine is now digital. Physical card reading through a terminal accounts for only 1.8% of transactions by volume and 2.5% by value, while fast contactless payments via phone, watch or NFC card prevail.According to Mastercard research, 72% of Ukrainian entrepreneurs receive their main income through non-cash payments, and two-thirds of them plan to scale their business.
